Red Enchilada Sauce Recipe

The easiest red enchilada sauce recipe!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or another vegetable oil)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • pinch cayenne pepper (if want added spice)
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable stock
  • pinch salt

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat and add flour into the pan. Cook for 1 minute.
  • Combine the all-purpose flour, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, dried oregano, paprika, and cayenne pepper and add to the saucepan. Stir well, cooking for 1 minute or until spices bloom and release their flavors.
  • Gradually pour in the chicken or vegetable broth. Whisk the mixture thoroughly to combine the ingredients.
  • Simmer for about 10 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
  • Add a pinch of salt, or add to taste.
